The factory V8 has a hex bar sticking out the side of the distributor body
which is the only way to adjust the points gap. I have never used gap to
set the points on that, always dwell. Ironic, really, since the points must
have just about the easiest access you could get. I just wish the
4-cylinder had such a facility, the angle, position and location of the RHD
steering makes adjusting the points a real pain, I always remove it and do
it on the bench. I also have a test-rig so I can check dwell on the bench
too before installing.
