There are a number of possibilites.
Are the tires the same size? Are the tire pressures set properly?
Are the kingpins binding? Disconnect the tie rod ends and see if the wheels
swing freely.
Is the rack free? If there was front end damage in the past, the rack housing
could be bent.
Is the steering column binding? On the 78's, if the steerng wheel had ben
removed and not installed properly, it could bind.
