Speedo cable that needs replacement possibly. They bind up in the
sheth, build up a bit of force, then pop loose. You can try lubing it,
but if you fail and it starts slamming back and forth hard rather than
a slight jump, it can ruin your speedo. The replacements are aboit $10
or so and easy to install if you don't mind a scratched up hand. (If
you don't know what I mean by that now, you will when you are done.)
