planes and names

Here's my professional Air Force knowledge, even though the P-51 was an
American Aircraft, it was the British that gave it the name Mustang,  since
they considered our pilots "cowboys".  But the name stuck.
See now if anyone is ever on jeopardy and are asked that
question............
