If you have the equipment, you can do a bleed-down test.  Through a fitting
that replaces the sparkplug, you use compressed air to pressurize the
cylinder.  (The cylinder should be at the bottom of the downstroke).  There is
a gauge in the airline.  You watch and see if the pressure drops.
