I was out in the garage looking on my 67 MGB for some obscure place that
the original paint color was still showing that wasn't painted over by the
PO. This was the first time I had the Clausager book in my hand while
digging around in the car, and it was apparent that my steering wheel
wasn't stock for 67. I first assumed that this was a later wheel somehow
put on an early car (like the engine and transmission), but it only has
three holes per spoke and the factory one has five. It actually looks
close to the MGB LE wheel, but not quite right.
I can tell that the rim is damaged underneath the tape and I know I will
have to replace it or repair it. If I can't repair this one, I would like
to get the same wheel since I like the looks and I wouldn't have to buy a
new adapter. What throws me is the horn push appears to be the factory part
for a 67.
There is a plastic spacer (unfortunately cracked) that is between the push
and the wheel hub that I don't see in the catalogs. Is this some sort of
adapter to use the factory horn push on an aftermarket wheel? Any idea
what brand I have?
