Triumph Stag / MGB Hybrid

Is the Stag's engine the same one that can drop into the later model B
without too much hassle?

What about the transmission?

The place where I will end up buying my MGB has a Stag with some
collision damage and a trashed interior, but the motor may be
salvagable. I wonder if it would be worth throwing into this B...?
