Dear List,
After inspection of my '63 B's rear brake I've found
the following problem:
* When I apply the footbrake -> No problem, It's
not possible to rotate (by hand) any of the rear
wheels.
* When I apply the handbrake -> The left rear-
wheel is OK but with a little strength it's
easy to turn the right rearwheel.
As far as I know this is not caused by an incorrect
adjusted handbrake cable because the handbrake lever
inside the drum brake is pulled full. This lever
cannot be pulled further by hand. (Pulled against
the base plate)
If I pull this handbrake lever full I still can
rotate (with a little strength) the drum brake.
During the search for the above problem I've already
replaced:
- All the springs, because they where old anyway.
- Handbrake lever
Can this be caused by worn brake shoes? To me this
would be unlikely because the "normal" footbrake is
working great.
Any suggestions?
Unfortunatly I'm not used to all those technical
terms yet but I'll try to shorten my postings in
the near future.
Best regards,
Menno Meijer
