What is the purpose of the two shims that are fitted under the two center rocker pedestals? My Haynes manual says, "Note the shims fitted under the two centre rocker brackets on later engines. These shims, 0.005 in thick, should be fitted to early engines also, when reassembling." If I lay a rocker assembly on the head it appears to lay flat. There must be something I'm missing here.
