Gas on the plugs DOES indicate lack of spark (or a very
overrich carb).
I have also seen ignition coils act this way as well -
fine cold but
would stop working once they got hot. A little cool down
and
back on the road. Note, they almost always fail at the
worst
possible moment, i.e. when you are pulling out of side
street
in front of an on coming cement mixer !
