Greetings,
When I undertook a major mechanical upgrade that included the removal and
replacement of the original engine and transmission, replacing them both with
a 350 ci combo from GM. When I went to register the car with its new engine
configuration I has asked to "surrender" and/or distroy the old metal or
decal Vin and engine ID tags, replacing them with some "new" ones the
California DMV had made for my car refecting the vehicles new engine status,
i.e. make, size, year etc. I attached these new plates (made out of a thin
piece of aluminum) with both super glue and pop rivits to discourage
anybody trying to remove or tamper with them. 1 set
went into the engine compart, the other set went into the front of the
drivers side door jam. They look neat and cleans up the engine ID and
vehicle ID areas with a professional appearance.
