Hi Dan,

Tell ya what I did a few years back in a similar situation: On the way home from
the seller's with the engine on my trailer, I stopped at a local high pressure 
do
it yourself car wash. I used the degreaser setting and cleaned off 90% of the
scuzz from the engine before it ever reached my driveway...
