Hi Becky,

  Congrats on getting the swaps done.  The gauge isn't grounded, unless
the wire from it to the temp sender is grounded somewhere.  The sender
is a variable resistor that is  grounded where it plugs into the
cylinder head.  Current flows from ground thru the sender, thru the wire
to the guage and thru the gauge to the Voltage Stabilizer.  See if the
wire is on the sender and not touching the engine, etc.
