I'll second that! Mt '73 BGT is my year round daily driver
averaging 15K a year. I love being able to seal it up and
not worry about it getting wet. Or locking it and not
worrying about someone cutting the roof.
I've installed electric windows (completely internal
to the door mechanism) and power door locks with
remote access and alarm.
The factory (dealer installed) A/C unit I picked up last
Fall should make it in this summer as well.
As for the sliding rag top...check out

The "classic" solution is a Webasto roof, which gives you all the drawbacks
of a convertible with none of the advantages of a GT... Just kidding. But it
is really, almost, just a hole cut in the roof with a piece of vinyl across
it. I remember some NOS webasto roofs for MGB-GTs discovered in canada and
advertised for around $350... if anyone remembers who was selling them. It
looks very interesting, but I always liked the lines of the MGB-GT and I
wouldn't want to ruin mine with a chunk of vinyl that sits rather proud of
the top.
If u aren't going for the classic solution, and perhaps cleaner lines,
I've seen MGB-GTs with modern popup sunroofs and you could get that done at
any sunroof-installer. As for Webastos... well they've gotten more modern
in recent times, my fathers new Caddy has one made by them.
The ultimate solution is to get an MGB convertible to keep your GT
company. I drove my MGB-GT a hell of a lot more than the my MGB )until it
fell off a flat bed truck getting towed) and don't think for a second that
you would "ignore" the poor GT while u drive the convertibel all the time..
the MGB-GT is a wonder, practical, stylish little car and I'd give my left
nut to get it back. If u go for an MGB, keep the GT!
