Rick:

On my TD which has both an ammeter and ignition warning light, I
changed the wiring and added an oil level gauge in the sump.
When I rebuilt the engine, a fuel gauge float on a lever was
added. The warning light is grounded by the oil float and the
light comes on when the oil level falls below 1 1/2 quarts.
That's still above the oil pickup when traveling on the level.
When taking tight corners, it has flashed showing me that the oil
level has dropped to far.

Right now, I have an oil leak somewhere beside the front and rear
seals, and oil leaks out while the engine is stationary. I
washed the engine real well, and let it set for a while, but
still haven't found the exact location of the drip on the RH side
of the XPAG engine.
