Then what was the air pump used for from 1969 to 1974 when the MG had no
catalytic convertor? My 73 18V has air pump holes (plugged, no air pump) and
no cat. The soon-to-start-any-day-now rebuild will be to 67 specs with no 
emissions equipment at all.
