175R14 tires are available from Michelin... a little taller as well as
wider but they fit fine. The 175/70-14 should be almost the same height
as the 165R14, you may not notice the difference.
165 x 0.78* = 128.7
175 x 0.70 = 122.5
Difference: 6.2 x 2 = 12.4mm height difference
*The precise aspect ratio of the 165R14 is debatable; somewhere between
75 and 80, it seems. Using the same ratio, the 175R14 would be 136.5,
giving you a clear choice between taller or shorter. For a CBB, I'd go
with the tall, classic look (and ground clearance). For a RBB, it
wouldn't hurt to lower it a little.
Don't know what to tell you about the alignment issue. I would think the
camber would have to be way off to make any noticeable difference, other
than to tire wear. Don't know what real-world effect a small caster
variance would have. Did the car seem to steer straight before you took
it in for alignment?
Enrique Claure had this to say:
>I can't find 165SR14 tires anywhere. Can I get away with 175? if so,what is
>the wheel hight measure e.i 175/70/14.
