I think you're expecting far too much from the dates. Comparing your build
date of 26-27 October 1964 with the 5-main engine change in 'October' 1964
(GA to GB) seems to me that you could well have either, even ignoring the
fact that the factory generally used up old stock before fitting new - my
Clausager says the the GB was the first 5-main engine, not the GA. However
seeing as how there appear to have been some 48,000 engines built up to Oct
64 your certificate number is some 46,000 too early! Even if your
certificate is incorrect and should say either GA or GB the numbers are
still considerably out and should either be up near 17500 for a GA or down
near 101 for a GB.
Dunno how long you have had your car but after 30+ years of POs it could
have anything i.e. a much older 'G' engine, and/or all sorts of minor
changes to fixtures and fittings.
1. There were G, GA and GB engines according to my Clausager, each had
their own number range from 101 to 31121, 17500 and 91175 respectively, and
each followed on from the other.
Again, Clausager says the 4-syncro only came in late 67 but again, anything
could have been fitted over the past 30+ years.
