Check the dizzy advance.  If it's a vacuum advance, pull the hose off the 
carb and suck on it to see if it rotates.  

Could be distributor bushings wearing.  Grab the rotor and try to push it 
from side to side.  It should not move at all to the side.

Last, it may be fuel starved at higher rpm.  Replace fuel filter and check 
the carb settings.

It's a start!
