Fellow listers,
I have a acquired a rather rusty 74.5 GT that I can't decide whether to
restore or use for parts .
Is there any redeaming value in this year of GT to justify a serious
restoration.
Besides needing the typical MG rocker panel redo, floors, rear storage
floor, some outrigger repair, all lower fender sections, some rust holes in
cowl section where windshield wippers are. Plus shocks, springs, tires.
Hydraulics are shot at this time so I haven't driven it yet. But PO said
it ran well before he parked it outside for tooooooo long. Engine turns
over by hand so thats a plus. And supposibly the overdrive transmission
works fine.
I don't have a problem with doing a long term restoration if the car has
some meaningful place in the history of the MG mark. Can any of you 74.5
owners shed some light on this particular year and style of MGB.
What really questions my interest in bringing this car back to life is
the amazing abundancy of this model of GT for sale in the overseas market.
They don't seem to be a rarity at all over there.
I've had all types of MGs but never a GT and would like to add one to my
collection.
Would this be a good selection to invest the time and money into.
     Thanks in advance, Mark
