Better check the butterfly spindles for any play @ all.
When I finilyzed tuning the carbs the spindles were quite stuck - so a
little oil helped a lot. Neglecting regular lubrication to the bearings
(every month I'd say) prevents premature wear. - I'm not saying you've
neglected yours Carl!

Good thought, I think my mechanic who helped me restart the engine after
I rebuilt it might have turned it 'a couple of flats' but you might have
a good idea there. I am curious about the tendency for the problem to
get worse though (my own immpression).
