Hey, it may not be Formula 1 but I know where you can see lever arm
shocks in a number of competition cars - and mine will be there on July
2nd :-)
In my class (unmodified marque) I am not allowed to modify the shocks in
this way, but I have the suspension wound down so hard that I am not
sure if they get much of a working out, really, anyway.
My primary problem was with the 'B "cocking" its rear wheel during
really hard cornering. I would try to accelerate out of the corner but
would be left spinning that flying wheel and not going anywhere fast.
Yes, limited slip diff would be great... but I am not allowed one of
those, either.
My solution was to add the 7/8 sway bar to the front... rear one coming,
but I don't think I am allowed the TWO sway bars (sheesh). This really
has kept the rear wheel down somewhat... but I had to quickly get used
to the added understeer.
So, I might like toying with the tube shocks, but for the moment there
are more pressing needs and these ones seem to be hanging in there fine.
