Well Mike,

Unfortunately I don't have this can you're talking about.
My BGT is a 71 one, so well expected to be different in many aspects.
I do recommend to have diagrams, I have these as part of the Haynes manual,
which helped me out of almost every job.
These diagrams are not perfect, but show there are different ones of the
years when changes have been made.

A cheep multimeter is quite enough to do the troubleshooting in a car like
ours.
Won't cost more than $10 - S20 I think.

Loose or worn brushes in the alternator might be the cause still.

good luck,

Hans

Don't have your wiring diagram and ain't hovering over a 74B with
multimeter in hand, but I wonder if you have the same alternator
set up as my Etype.

The ignition/charging red lite is controlled by a $40 can that
looks like a signal flasher. When it fails (now second time) it
causes the red lite to flicker or go intermittent on and off
without rhyme or reason. MW the charging circuit is happily doing
its job at 13 to 14 volts.

That can is just a messenger.

Get a cheap digital voltmeter. These read to a decimal point and
very accurately give you a check on your battery trends, and how
the charging circuit is or is not kicking in visavi your idiot
lite.
