(I am not targeting Simon here, just using the words he wrote)
Ed may be a jerk sometimes. But I know Ed just had a full day of dealing
with people didn't know what year their car was made, chewed off his ear
asking countless and irrelevant technical questions, asked for a quote on
300 parts only to then not order (and move to the next supplier), people
that did not know what their VIN number was, people that have bodged cars
with wrong parts claiming the part Ed just sent them is incorrect, people
calling to ask at 8am if their order has been shipped yet, when they called
at 4:54 the previous day to order it. People that think their MGB is an MG
Midget, and consequently Ed send them the wrong cylinder head. People that
want to ask Ed questions about putting a Nissan motor into an MGB.
So the next time your supplier seems like he doesn't want your business, it
is probably just because he had a real crappy day dealing with other people
that want their parts just as fast as you do, and with top notch service to
boot.
Believe me, I know... yet sometimes talking to the wonderful customer who
purchased all the parts for his MGA restoration from you, and then bringing
in a bottle of wine from his vineyard is quite a treat!
Cheers,
