6v/1.5ohm coils on the later MGBs already have an external ballast in the
feed from the ignition switch (or relay) to the +ve terminal on the coil to
raise the total resistance in the ignition circuit to about 3ohms. Do you
mean there should be an additional ballast, and if so, how is it wired?
What about during cranking when the solenoid effectively shorts out the
external ballast and applies the full '12v' (actually a couple of volts
less) to the coil?
