I only heard about the fire problem after I had mine, when there was a
question about their safety in Parliament because Princess Anne drove one.
The response was "The Scimitar is no more likley to catch fire than any
other car." What a lie that was. I contacted the factory who told me mine
had not had the recall mod. Took it to a Scimitar dealer to have it done.
When I got it back I couldn't see any difference - but at that time I didn't
know what the fix was (a pin to fix the brass petrol inlet pipe into the
alloy carb casting). Some time later I was working on the car and had the
pipe come out in my hand - what a close one that was. But then, I had a
couple of narrow squeaks with that car and could write a book on the
problems ...
