Did the '66 Midget already have hazard flashers?
In the Netherlands we just started to see them in '69 earliest.

Hans,

The left front ground is in the wheel well attached to the body of the turn
signal housing. The rear is in the boot ground is probabbly center below the
boot lid catch.
After you clean these grounds, use some dielectric grease on them before
reattaching them. This will help ward off some corrosion. 
If you see little improvement, work your way through the turn signal
circuit. Check the hazzard switch for corrosion as well. the power for the
turn signals passes through the hazzard switch and the blinker.
Unfortunately, the daisy chain circuits tend to compound the possibilities
but it's generally a grounding issue...generally. :o)
