The reason for the quotes ("sports"), was the fact that the old cars looked and
handled like sports cars, the newer model that was released in the 80's I
think, looked like an attempt at a miata but with a three wheeler engine....!!
I remeber seeing one at the Motor show in Birmingham Eng. as a kid, I don't
ever recall seeing one on the streets.
I didn't mean to offend the older classic Scimitar, which I feel is an
excellent example of a SPORTS Car, along the lines of the old Jaguars.

Why the quotes? My Scimitar GTE had a 3 litre V6 and auto box with double
kick-down - try flooring that from pootling along at 30 in D - great sport!
