Well, I thought Cleveland, Ohio was cold -- until I moved to Montreal
then
Ottawa. In four winters of car ownership in US rust belt then 5 years in
Canada, I never encountered parking brake freeze in my own cars --
although
it was quite amusing to witness on front-wheel drive cars in snow.
I had always assumed that the problem was water in the e-brake cable
freezing, rather than water in the brake itself. I thought that if I kept
the cable well lubed, I would never have a problem, and it WORKED (just
as well as my charm to keep tigers away.)
