Well, it wasn't me that came up with that number. But I would think that
in many communities that would be a reasonable figure for a modest home.
I think my parents bought the house I grew up in (4 bedroom Edwardian on
a double lot) in Portland, Oregon, for S11,000 around 1960.
They sold it in 1974 for about $30,000, as I recall...
