Mostly availability, Andy. 

Although I've heard of a retro fit for the later OD gearbox, I don't know of 
anyone that has attempted it, unfortunately.

PS incidently, if you refer to Rick's post, he informs me that there were 
actually 4 trannmissions. 
Graham Robson says that the 4 speed synchro was made available in 1967. 
There's no distinction given between the crash box transmissions (3 main and 
5 main). In any event, there are only 2 OD units given. LD and LH.
