Go for it!
Had I kept my 57 Magnette, that was my plan so that instead of gathering
speed under acceleration, it would accelerate. Saw a Magnette a few
years back with that combination and a Laystall crossflow head that
looked very impressive once the hood opened. Otherwise it looked like
the gorgeous car it is. Hated to sell her.
