You need to check the alignment of the vent window/front window channel. Excess inward angle causes it to rub the windscreen & after time a crack can develop. Welding is the easiest, Even if you reskin the door and the alignment is still wrong, a crack will develop again. Watch as you close the door, look for movement in the vent window assembly.
