A couple of weeks back I mentioned a Blaze '72 MGB I was going to look at.
Car was described as minimal rust, newer paint and many recent mechanical
upgrades. I had several correspondences with the owner, and thought through
his descriptions the car it maybe a decent MGB, and worth driving 5 hours to
go see. Well, this car was probably the worst MGB I have seen yet. The
entire rocker area was nothing but bondo (no magnet needed here, it wasn't
even sanded correctly before paint!), and the door gaps were atrocious (none
at top, almost 3/4 an inch at the bottom. Chrome on bumpers badly corroded,
and front bumper was pushed back from an impact so that the overriders had
dented the hood in two places. The poor respray on the car had been done
over untreated rusted areas, and also had gotten onto the chrome and
windshield and frame. I didn't even bother starting or driving the car. I
just love how these people advertise their vehicle's condition, and when you
come look at it, it doesn't even look like the same car. Well, back to the
drawing board.
