There are a few times when I want lights on without the ignition being
on, & I did not want to go to the trouble of wiring a relay from the
ignition to the light switch, so here is a very simple solution:
Install a 2nd switch in the door jamb, similar to the one that turns on
(?) your courtesy light- you know, that blinding source of light on your
console. This switch makes ground when the door is opened. Splice into
one of your parking lights- not the turn signal wire- by using a double
Lucar connector, or your preferred method, as long as it is not a
"Scotch lock". connect the 2 wires- one from the light, the other from
the jamb switch- to the buzzer of your choice. Mine came from a 70's MG,
& had only 2 terminals. The seat belt buzzers from later MG's have a
connector I can't fathom. Any 12V buzzer from Rat Shack or some other
source will work just fine.
I used the parking lamp rather than the head lite, since they are less
noticible, & therefore easier to leave on.
