After getting a little rough treatment (skidding over a low kerb) the
other day I now have vibration from the front wheels through a speed
band from about 50 to 55mph - after this it goes away.
No problems, re-balance wheels and check alignment.
BUT... sitting dead on 60mph for quite a few miles the other day I
noticed that I could barely see anything out of the rearview mirror (the
one on the door was fine) because of vibration and when I rested my hand
on my gearstick I found there was a really quite intense but very high
frequency vibration. I could not 'feel' it through the wheel (or my
seat).
The more worrying aspect of this is that I have a feeling that this may
not just be occurring at high speed but at high 'revs' in other gears
(other than 4th) - say up above 3,500rpm. Seeing as I don't rev the
thing like this (for any amount of time) whilst commuting I hadn't
really picked up on it. I will try this out over the weekend.
Any thoughts?
