I never realized how good we have it in small-town TX until I started
reading the experiences of those listers who live in CA and other states
with strict pollution rules. We have a smog inspection only in ;arge
cities in TX. It's part of the yearly safety inspection. In my small
town, they check lights, brakes, tires, horn, wipers and the integrity
of the exhaust system. Can't get a safety sticker if the car has an
exhaust leak.
My '69 B doesn't have an air-injection head or pump. It was like that
when I bought it. I expect they'd take me off the road in the states
where some of you folks reside. I feel a little guilty about its not
being in original trim. When you get right down to it, it's not good
citizenship to drive a smog hog. I tell myself that I keep it tuned
razor sharp and that makes it better than many other vehicles on the
road but I may be kidding myself.
