I had an MG spotting experience that surprised me a bit this weekend. Friday
night I did a bit of a flashback to Fall 1973 when I was a senior in high
school and put my dear old vinyl (snap, crackle & pop) copy of the Who's
Quadrophenia on the turntable and cranked it. I always liked the photography
by Ethan Russell in the book that came with the album and was leafing through
it when something I never noticed before hit me. The car that Jimmy and the
mods are bashing up and overturn over 3 pages is an MG ZB Magnette. It is
shown in side view and it would be questionable whether its a Wolseley or an
MG except the Octagons on the hubcaps are visible. I've looked at the book
mucho times and never noticed before.
I was on the near North side of Chicago near Wrigley Field today and saw a
Tyrolite Green MGA 1500 go down Belmont Avenue. Great convertible day.
