Timing is usually adjusted with the vacuum disconnected - both for manifold
and carb take-offs even though the carb take-off is not usually doing
anything at the dynamic setting rpm. However for setting it with a vacuum
gauge and a manifold take-off you should leave it connected, or you will
likely end up with far too high a setting.
