I can't speak for Larry, and I don't have a cage in any of my BGTs, but
most racers (and rallyists) have their cages custom made. There are bolt
in kits available for most cars that are just as strong, but I prefer a
weld in cage custom made to fit. There's a guy in my area (Portland, OR)
who does them for a *very* good price (have had 2 done at him, with a
third being done as we speak). I'm talking under $1000. I even had the
chance to test one a couple of months ago during the SCCA Wild West
ProRally, and while it bent, it saved me (seeing as how I broke a 15"
diameter Douglas Fir with the drivers side door at 65 mph, I'm very much a
believer!)
I'd check with your local sports car club (SCCA if you can't find anyone
else -- they're main office is in Denver) and chat with someone and ask
them who did their cage and how much.
