braided fuel lines look great ...BUT
they are the best way to hide a deteriorating rubber hose.
My friend's Midget went up in flames for that very
reason. We both agreed the lines looked fine.
At the end of the summer, after a long hot days run,
we went to look under the hood at the hissing sound we heard.
As we opened the hood the fuel line coming up the radiator
diaphram to the front carb looked like a 'pinned holed' lawn watering hose.
right in front of our faces it burst into flames!
I'll never hide hoses under braid!

Subject: re:Late MGB Fuel Lines
Hi, Haven't had much to say but the note on the fuel lines caught
my eye. I'm nearing completion(as I've been telling my wife for 2
years) of a complete resto of a 78 B and the reason I got it for 400
bucks is that it had an engine fire due to old fuel lines finally letting
go. You can bet that the braided lines from my 72B are going on
the car when it's done.
