John, I'm cross-posting this to the MG List, to see if you get any
response or clarification. It sure sounds like an MG 1500 to me, either
TF or MGA or perhaps one of the other Austin/Morris/Wolseley etc. cars
that used the B-series engine.

If you don't get any serious nibbles from the MG-List, you should put it
up on eBay.
