Major Engine Rebuild Costs on a 77B

What should I expect to pay for a major engine rebuild and what work should I 
expect to be performed?

I am at a decision point. I can buy an rebuilt engine out of a 67B for $900 
but it has no warranty or I can have my engine rebuilt and get a 6mo/6000 
mile warranty. The mechanic does not yet know the cost. The rebuilt has never 
been started since the rebuild, but I am hesitant due to the lack of warranty

Any opinions?
