Barney:

Thanks for all your previous diagnostic advice. I rebuilt the Midget
carbs and the car is running like new. The replaced throttle shafts
worked fine without the need for bushings. I think this was the major
culprit. Also one needle was bent on a carb and the PO used two
different float check valves thus the levels were different.

The balance is fine and idle is smooth at 1k RPMs. I get slight increase
and leveling off with the lifting pin on both carbs. And best of all
the car runs great. It does seem like the jet adjusting nut is lower
compared to the way it was. Perhaps 6 flats below the 12 down starting
point. Maybe 3/8" below the bridge. Both carbs about the same. I suspect
this is due to new needles and jets thus less wear compared to the
original items. Any comments. Used new stock spring loaded needles
-"ABC".

I did not use any sealant on the the gaskets etc and I would like to
check for any other intake leaks, manifold to head, sensing tubes etc.
Any advice on how to do this. I hear ideas like using oil and look for
smoke, starting fluid and listen for RPM increase etc. Then oil idea
seems messy. I can also try the back pressure with the compressor but
this is not dynamic. Any advice is appreciated.
