Tom,
I'm delighted to hear you are considering a sports car to go with your
sedan (MGB). Heheheh. Now seriously. Midget owners are totally accepted
in the "MG community". At least I've never felt snubbed. OTOH, do you
really care? Anyone snubs you for your car, you can do without them.
Can you handle 55-65 without going crazy? Does anyone of us really avoid
going crazy - for some reason? But to your point - I commute to work every
day in my Midget. It's 90% highway driving taking me about 30 minutes each
way and I cruise at 65 and go 70 if I'm a little late. I have a grand time
and I do not have the highly touted 5-speed conversion. Not saying it
wouldn't be nice - it's just that I don't feel a burning need. The A
series engine is the greatest thing since sliced bread in my opinion.
Do watch out for semis though. You'll be nimble enough to avoid them and
as long as you have both hands on the wheel you shouldn't get too sucked
into their draft. :)
If the car is in good shape and a decent buy, grab it...and welcome to the
club.
