Likely no problem on the pump, especially if its not making any noise. Just
keep the radiator topped off. The water is probably coming from the "weep"
hole on the underside of the pump nose, which is why it is there.
If the thermostat housing won't budge with a bit of "persuasion" from a
block of soft wood and a hammer, try removing or loosening the offending
stud by locking two nuts on it and then unscrewing it. Be careful not to
break the stud or twist it in half. On a side note, as the studs are cheap,
and are often deteriorated, I'd replace all three of them while you have the
thermostat housing off ... IMHO.

Subject: Leaking water pump

Two days ago I installed a new heater valve and tried to replace the
thermostat but couldn't get the cover off. Yesterday I had the car out for
a spin checking for leaks around the valve and notice a constant drip from
my water pump, a drip every two seconds. My question is can I survive for a
couple more weeks with the pump or should lay up the car until I have the
funds to buy and install a new water pump? Secondly how do I free the
thermostat elbow from that last stud?

Thanks for the help.
