Spring Bind

Hi me again, what a surprise!! <G> ;)

I have read in an old ST article that the std Double Valve Springs are good
for .430 valve lift. What I want to know is does this mean I can lift to
.430 and still have clearance for coil bind? I have seen clearance
requirements quoted at between .030 and .050 on different sites/books etc.
I'm gathering it doesn't include any clearance, therefore I'm guessing that
I can't valve lift above .400 without going to different springs... -?
