Earlier this spring a gust of wind snapped the driver's door off my Mark II.
After finishing the body work and paint, I attempted to put the door back on
the car. I left all the screws loose so that I could adjust the fit. I am
sure there is some science/art to moving the jamb hinge plate in or out and
the door plate in or out depending on the fit problem. What I ended with
after a 20 minute "fit" session, was that the leading edge of the door still
binds at the trailing edge of the front body panel. Does the jamb hinge plate
need to go in towards the steering wheel, or the opposite? Does the hinge
plate on the door need to go in towards the car or out, away from it?
Marking the position before I took off the old plates probably would have
been a good idea, I'll know the next time, but I hope this doesn't happen
again.
Many thanks for any and all help, Valerie Stabenow
