Aside from my love of MGs I spend a lot of time 4-wheeling in my Jeep, and
there is a saying amongst Jeepers that great Jeeps are built and not
bought and that, I believe is true for sports cars as well.
As far as I am concerned it should stay that way, let the mass market have
it's 'comfortable' version and lets go on restoring MGs and keeping it
real. I don't want every joe blow to be able to by a car with MG
character with power everything and cupholders. These cars have more
character in each one of them then the majority of modern cars combined,
and if everyone can just buy one off the lot then the love affair with
restoring them for what they represent will begin to die. I love my cars
and could never part with them but if I could buy one new and not have to
deal with nearly 30 year old parts and technology then it would ruin the
character of the car. Honestly how many of you have never bragged about
the way an MG marks it's territory, and what about Lucas. Without Lucas
we wouldn't ever have to work on these cars. I wish they would build a
new MG and bring it to the states, but if it is going to be inspired by
the old ones then it needs to remain a sports car and not a luxury car.
