Can you feel the action of the latch as you push the button? If this is a
misalignment, I have opened many stuck boot lids by applying gentle
pressure on the license plate with my knee as I push the button. If it
opens this way, then "adjust" the catch (the part bolted to the bottom of
the boot opening by bending it slightly forward with a crowbar or large
screwdriver.
